It seems that Amazon will grow the dwarfs. Although judging by the identity of the latter, no doubt that his dwarfs have giant stature. We’re talking about Google Editions, the new Google service that the factory has started and will represent the largest free e-book store that at present exist on the Internet.

So much so that Google’s library will feature a whopping 500,000 titles and will be available for all ages from the first half of 2010. For the first time in the short history of the electronic book, this store will provide texts in electronic format that can be read on any media, regardless of brand or model. Here come computers, readers like the Amazon or Sony, netbooks and even mobile phones.

Google Editions, e-books for all

The idea breaks with the imposition of Amazon, a company that sells electronic books only compatible with their Kindle. Standard which incidentally we have seen recently involved in copyright disputes with the popular book “1984″ by George Orwell.

For every sale made through its platform Google paid 37% of the profits, which will help to restore the laborious task of scanning that has taken place in recent years. The direct purchase from Google could mark a major break the monopoly that Amazon has sought to strengthen in recent months with the launch of several readers and leaving off the U.S. market.

Still, the Forrester analyst Sarah Rotman, says the launch of Google Editions will not jeopardize your business. No doubt, however, remains the main beneficiary Google in its bid to free format.
