After more than 30 years, Sony announced it would stop making the super famous Walkman cassette player the best in history. With a poetic twist, the date of death of the Walkman line with the ninth anniversary of launch of Apple’s iPod.
The Sony Walkman was launched on July 1, 1979, selling only 3,000 units in that month. But Sony did not give up, said their product to market with sponsoring young pop stars and early 80′s was something that everyone should have. Is its little more than 30 years of history, the device achieved to be sold 200 million times.
When it comes to my mind the idea of a portable music player comes to mind the Walkman, but it is recognized that with iPod and iTunes this idea has lost a bit, especially for younger generations. The iPod was launched on October 23, 2001 and has had as many versions and modifications throughout its history.
In conclusion, the truth is that the Walkman did not die at the hands of the iPod, but Discman hand, the famous disc player. A big mistake was not to improve the Sony Walkman with the technology that is progressing day by day.

I think that Sony needs to pull their act together, if they desire to maintain their customers !
