Yesterday was the assembly line and now its first run and bypass obstacles: our favorite robots we get older. Of Asimo, the humanoid designed and developed by Japanese manufacturer Honda, already known to perform many feats robotic, but lacked the latter peculiarity that the engineers of the Japanese firm was finally incorporated.
The test for which they have passed Asimo and his good friend, the HRP-2, the robot fierce look and name unfit for stuttering has been simple but crucial. In the case of HRP-2, the android was instructed to follow a basic linear trajectory, so that he autoprogramaba real-time route to follow. Every time located in a bar in his career pattern, reconducía their way, like Shakira whenever you give a CD of any style that does not know. Arguably, the peculiarity in the behavior of the HRP-2 is based on generating new routines every time you encounter an obstacle in their path.
In the case of Asimo the solution was significantly different. With the same calm and cautious step, the robot from Honda will also trace the route that is scheduled to go from point A to target B. But how does that differ from the HRP-2, as the latter far from producing creative decisions, just opened a new routine. Asimo basically draw the obstacle making decisions, analyzing the possibilities and decided by the most, say, cost-effective to achieve the objective: to get to point B.
The clear demonstration that these tests leave open an interesting way in the world of artificial intelligence. But they have not missed those starting to tremble in fear that we are one step away from the entrance on the scene of Skynet, the cruel brain of Terminator. With a good aspect of Asimo, we do not believe that there is much of what frightened.
